Major General Bahaa El Din Zaidan, Director of El Galaa Medical Complex of the Armed Forces inaugurated the activities of the exhibition and the international forum for pharmaceutical industries, medical supplies and cosmetics Med Jet 2019 organized by the Exporters Association of Egypt in cooperation with Export Development Authority under the patronage of the Prime Minister Dr. Mustapha Medbouli and Dr. Hala Zayed. Minister of Commerce and Industry Eng. Amr Nassar.

Med Jet 2019 will be held concurrently with the launch of the second session of Nile Med, organized by the Medical Supplies Division of the Engineering Industries Chamber of the Federation of Industries.

Eng. Mohamed El Suwaidi, Chairman of the Federation of Industries, Eng. Magdy Ghazi, Chairman of the Industrial Development Authority, Eng. Khaled El Mikati, Chairman of the Exporters Association of Egypt, Mr. Mohamed El Mohandes, Chairman of the Chamber of Engineering Industries and Dr. Sherif Ezzat, Head of the Medical Supplies Division of the Federation of Industries.

Eng. Mohamed El Suwaidi, Chairman of the Federation of Industries, said that the Egyptian industry in the fields of medical supplies and equipment has witnessed great development and growth and is able to compete in different countries of the world, adding that a large number of local companies have obtained international certificates and are currently leading a large part of their products.

Al Suwaidi pointed out that the sector of medical equipment and supplies achieved a preference in the percentage of the local component reached 40% and there are some sectors that achieved rates ranging between 60 to 70% local component.

Majid Ghazi, Chairman of the Industrial Development Authority (IDA), said Med Jet 2019 and Nile Med 2019 proved a good industry in Egypt in terms of medicines, medical supplies and cosmetics, The Commission works to support the sector by providing their land needs.

For his part, Eng. Khalid Al Miqati, Chairman of the Egyptian Exporters Association, said that the Egyptian industry in the field of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals is one of the promising industries which is witnessing a big boom in terms of quality, production and global competition.

Al-Miqati added that Med Jet 2019 attracted many international buyers from Africa, pointing out that the quality of the Egyptian industry in the fields of medical devices and supplies qualify Egypt to enter the African market strongly, especially in light of the unprecedented attention of President Sisi to go to Africa to benefit from Egypts presidency of the Federation African conflict.

Eng. Mohamed El Mohandes, head of the Engineering Industries Chamber of the Federation of Industries, said that the exhibition aims primarily to encourage export to African markets and reduce imports by maximizing value added and raising the percentage of the local component in industry, which reached 40% to 60% in some medical industries.

Dr. Sharif Ezzat, Chairman of the Department of Medical Devices and Supplies, stressed that the medical industry in Egypt has many elements for the direction of foreign markets, especially in the African market. He called for speeding up the issuance of the law of the Pharmaceutical Control Authority and the Law of the Technology Authority. Markets attracting investment in the medical sector.

Imad Luiz, Acting Director of the Division of Devices and Good Supplies, said that African companies have a great interest in the medical supplies and medicines sector, noting that the exhibition attracted 56 companies from 8 African countries.

He explained that the aim of the exhibition is to maximize exports especially for the African market. Therefore, the Division, in cooperation with Expolink and the Export Development Authority, has been keen to attract major importers in Africa to visit the exhibitors and there are agreements with Africa that will contribute to the growth of Egyptian exports.

The volume of exports in the last year amounted to about $ 103.4 million and is expected to grow by 20% this year.
